Martin
Name: Martin, called Martin of Ennor
Age: ~1000 (appears late forties)
Race: human
Story: [Hounds]
Personality:
Stoic and serious, but possessed of a dry sense of humor beneath his quiet exterior. Cares a great deal about protecting those he cares about, values family highly. An honorable man.
Though he still carries a measure of cynicism from his time in the Crusades, time in the Shadow has dulled a lot of the bitterness. He takes life as it comes, without letting many things upset him.
Backstory:
Born in the distant past, Martin grew up as a farmer and started a small family. He went to war during the First Crusade to make money for his wife and son, but came home to find only a smoking ruin where his village had once stood. Despairing, Martin made a bargain with the god Lore and entered the Worldshadow.
For the next several centuries, Martin had little interaction with the real world. He found out too late that his family had survived, and devoted himself to watching over his descendants; eventually Lore asked him to serve as partner to his many-times-over great-grandaughter Jade, who had recently become a Hound.
As a timewalker of Lore, Martin is conditionally immortal; if his remaining life was measured by a clock, the clock only advances in the 'real world' and halts while he's in the Worldshadow. He's a (often familially annoying) friend, partner, and guardian to Jade; still fighting with the falchion he trained with, he also can shadowstep across small distances utilizing any available darkness and outright cross between worlds during the dusk around sunrise or sunset. He dresses appropriately for the modern era these days, but still tends to blur the line a little between modern and archaic habits and speech. Jade is half-convinced he does this for the sole purpose of bothering her.
Additional Notes:
- if drawn in present day, skin is covered in mottled gray patches; shadow is beginning to infuse his body
- can be drawn in his armor from the Crusades, or present day clothes (simple, dark colors)
